Plaistows results -best of the rest
after a very busy week with getting a new permit and fixing my machine I managed to get to Plaistows near St Albans on Saturday morning for the second round of the nationals. Rob Grimwood and Chris Saysell ran a well organised weekend with some challenging tasks and excellent weather and hospitality. I came Fifth which was a result which I was pleased with. All the pilots ahead of me were, or are medal winners at the previous world champs (such is the standard of the British team) so fifth was creditable. My precision was much improved and if you took my totals for this I came second on these elements alone. The Nav was a large percentage of the scores and I was again pleased with my flying - I missed two crucial gates by 50 m and this effected my score. Photos identification is now the area I need to focus on - on the first nav task I achieved 6 out of nine which is positive but the other one a disappointing 3 out of nine - this was a significant chunk of points. If you look at the results though three of the planes in front were flown duel and therefore I was the second placed single seater.
In conclusion a great weekend - once there are some photos on the web I will put a link to them - in the meantime below is my track line for the circular nav task -more thoughts on this once the dust has settled.
