These are the dates for the UK national series. These offer vital preparation and practice for the worlds. They take place over the weekend and usually start on the Sat morning. All bar Preston capes I plan to fly to - either very early on Sat morning or late Friday night.

You may be wondering how the comps are scored especially the navigation tasks. Before GPS pilots used cameras and observers on the ground. We now all use a GPS logger which continually updates and logs your position every 2 seconds.

which way is up ?

With the weather being awful I was up in the spare room doing some painting and spied the flight bag and it got me thinking about the use of Map Board and the importance of it in the forthcoming comps. Last year I designed and introduced a rotating board which made a significant difference to workload on tasks.

Round and round

Had an interesting day at the airfield this morning. The photographer from the Oxford times came out to do the photos for the forthcoming article.

After a range of static shots we set up a few fly by pictures which involved various low fly pasts in interesting conditions. Look out for notification of the article and maybe a sneak preview of the images.
